  Last Thursday at Aras Inis Gluaire Belmullet, they screened director and screen writer Sofia Coppola's biographical movie, 'Priscilla'. The movie tells the tale of Priscilla Beaulieu, who through loving Elvis Presley had everything and nothing all at the same time. A tale of isolation, lonliness and the dark side of what seemed to be a fairytale. The lead roles were played by Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) and Jacob Elordi (Elvis). I thought Spaeny did a fantastic job at portraying Priscilla's innocence when she first met Elvis and Elordi also impressed as a much darker Elvis to what viewers are used to seeing. The movie itself is based on Priscilla's memoir 'Elvis and Me'. This is her story of what life was like with the King of Rock'n'Roll and it does not portray him in a good light.   The experts say that emotional storytelling is a powerful way to connect with your audience and this documentary certainly succeeded in doing so. 'A Proper Pint' draws on so many emotions such as nostalgia as you listen to tales of years gone by, a sense of pride for the breathtaking and picturesque part of North Mayo where we are so lucky to call home, fascination at all the interesting facts that you learn about the area that you may not have known and of course an abundance of happy and sad memories of the times the McDonnell family have touched each and every one of our lives, be it a celebration in the bar or helping families with their loved ones journey home. This documentary is special and it even has a cameo by a very recognisable feline friend 😸😸😸 Even if you are not from Erris, this documentary tells its story in such a way that you will feel that you have already been welcomed into the pub, heard a song on the Irish pipes and had a nice chat with the locals!! T
