The Guinness Storehouse Review

Well thanks to Covid, its been a long time since I've been out exploring Ireland and beyond for some of the best places to visit, but at last I can get back to my adventures so I thought where better to start than at one of Irelands top tourist spots, The Guinness Storehouse.

Firstly, it is very easy to get to as it is on the Luas line, its just one stop past Heuston station, you get off at James' and it is just a five minute walk to your destination.

Spread out over seven floors in an old fermentation plant, this visitor experience tells you everything you need to know about Irelands iconic beer. On the first stop on the self guided tour, there is a stunning indoor waterfall which I found quite breathtaking and of course I couldn't miss out on a few photos beside this unique feature.

Over the various floors you learn all about how Guinness is made, the story of Arthur Guinness himself and its fascinating past which is woven into the history of Dublin. Also, Guinness has always had memorable advertising campaigns and there is a whole floor dedicated to this. One particular feature on this floor that stood out to me was the huge television screens showing some of their most memorable adverts.

You can also learn how to pour the perfect pint of Guinness but unfortunately due to Covid this part of the tour is closed.

The piece de resistance is the Gravity Bar on the 7th Floor. Here you can enjoy your free pint of Guinness or mineral, sit back and take in the stunning panoramic views of Dublin City and the Wicklow Mountains. All you can think when you walk into the bar is 'WOW' and I can only imagine how stunning this view is at nighttime when the city is lit up.

There is a huge shop on the ground floor full of Guinness merch where you can buy anything from t-shirts to decorations for your Christmas tree and there are also restaurants for you to have a bite to eat.

The Storehouse is extremely wheelchair accessible and has lifts to every floor. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.

So would I recommend a visit to The Guinness Storehouse? Absolutely!! I brought my mum along and we had such and enjoyable day. It was fascinating learning about the history behind Irelands iconic drink and I had always been told that the best pint of Guinness you will get is in the Gravity Bar and I can confirm this is true.

The experts say that emotional storytelling is a powerful way to connect with your audience and this documentary certainly succeeded in doing so. 'A Proper Pint' draws on so many emotions such as nostalgia as you listen to tales of years gone by, a sense of pride for the breathtaking and picturesque part of North Mayo where we are so lucky to call home, fascination at all the interesting facts that you learn about the area that you may not have known and of course an abundance of happy and sad memories of the times the McDonnell family have touched each and every one of our lives, be it a celebration in the bar or helping families with their loved ones journey home. This documentary is special and it even has a cameo by a very recognisable feline friend 😸😸😸 Even if you are not from Erris, this documentary tells its story in such a way that you will feel that you have already been welcomed into the pub, heard a song on the Irish pipes and had a nice chat with the locals!! T

Wonka Movie Review

I'm the type of person who is very much in touch with my childhood. My pre teen years were the 1980's and what a magical time that was, the technology kids have to play with these days didn't exist and we relied on our imaginations for fun. We pretended we could fly, that we were superheros and of course magical powers were a must, so for us, a movie like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory where you entered a world of pure imagination was a must watch every time it came on the telly, which was normally Christmas time, and every Christmas we watched it. Now we get to revisit this magical world as Wonka has returned to the silver screen but this time its not a remake, its a prequel, where we get to learn some of the back story of the worlds greatest chocolate maker Willy Wonka. Dirty Dancing at The Bord Gais Energy Theatre Review

Dirty Dancing the stage show is a night of pure nostalgia. Between the award winning soundtrack and sensational dancing, for two hours, you will be brought back to your youth and you will certainly 'Have the time of your life' Written by Eleanor Bergstein and Directed by Federico Bellone, Dirty Dancing the stage show will run at The Bord Gais Energy Theatre from September 5th to September 16th 2023. The 1987 movie is embeded in all our hearts, telling the coming of age story of Baby Houseman who over the summer of 1963, learned to dance and fell in love with Johnny, the boy from 'the wrong side of the tracks'. Bergstein and Bellone truly did their source material justice with this amazing theatre version of one of the worlds best known movies. Staring Michael O'Reilly as Johnny Castle and Kira Malou as Baby , the show is an explosion of fun from the time the curtains open. It pretty much sticks to the original script, with seamless transitions between scenes. T
