Friends the Experience: The One in Dubin!!

The Friends Experience is currently in Dublin at The Point Square, until January 27th 2024.

This is an amazing opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of the iconic 90's TV show. Imagine hanging out in Central Perk, Monica and Rachel's appartment and Joey and Chandler's appartment, well imagine no longer because with this experience you get to do just that.

I spoke with the CEO of The Friends Experience and here's what he had to say about this ultimate day out for Friends fans.

The Friends Experience is quite a unique event. Can you tell me about the inception of the idea for it?

It is a unique event! It's a creation of the world of the most popular TV show ever made. Essentially the idea came out of Warner Brothers (who created Friends) realising that the show had such a unique following and the fans didn't just want to look at the sets, costumes and props but actually inhabit the world that they'd seen these characters be in for so many years. So people wanted to actually sit on Monica's sofa, play foosball in Joey and Chandlers apartment and so forth. So the idea was to create that world and let the audience really play in it and recreate those moments from all ten seasons. Friends is unique, you couldnt do this with many TV shows, the sets are so iconic and its such a happy place for people that it really works as a concept to build it and let people come and have fun in it.

What can people see and do at the experience?

They can see and do everything you can imagine as a Friends fan. I'm talking from going on the sets, to seeing the props and costumes displayed from the actual shooting of the show, to recreating moments like 'PIVOT' where you get to hold the sofa and shout PIVOT ,to riding on Pat the Dog which is Joey's porcelin dog. All these things that the fans just get and know exactly what references they are. Of course you can hang out in Central Perk and you can read tonnes of information of behind the scenes insights into how the show was created from casting to set design and costume design and so on. So it merges exhibition with fan convention with immersive theatre and it is the ultimate Friends experience quite literally.

Have you any of the original set or props there?

Yes loads, we've got an incredible aray of archive material from the Warner Bros archive in Burbank California so for fans of the show it really is quite thrilling to see all these bits.

Have you ever had any of the cast at any of the events?

Yes we've had Janice along a few times, she is our go to and regular guest. Janice voices the intro you see when you first come in. We've had Gunther along in the past before he sadly passed away and also Carol and Susan. I would hope that one day all of the main cast will come along because we know they know about the experience and support it.

Can people buy merchandise there?

Yes there is a shop with all kinds of merchandise.

What is the pricing system and what is included in the different ticket prices?

Basically the way we price the experience is there is a general admission ticket where you can choose what time you enter at, that just gets you in thats the basic ticket and then on top of that we have flexi tickets where you can come at any time and then we have VIP tickets for the super fans and this includes everything from a goodie bag with unique merch in it  to a laynard to que jump to a 10% discount in the shop and so on, its basically the all singing all dancing super fan experience.

Could you BE more excited!!! Talk about the perfect Christmas present to buy the Friends fanatic in your life. Tickets are available here, get ready to take the best selfies your camera role has ever seen!!

A Proper Pint: McDonnells Bar and Undertakers Review

The experts say that emotional storytelling is a powerful way to connect with your audience and this documentary certainly succeeded in doing so. 'A Proper Pint' draws on so many emotions such as nostalgia as you listen to tales of years gone by, a sense of pride for the breathtaking and picturesque part of North Mayo where we are so lucky to call home, fascination at all the interesting facts that you learn about the area that you may not have known and of course an abundance of happy and sad memories of the times the McDonnell family have touched each and every one of our lives, be it a celebration in the bar or helping families with their loved ones journey home. This documentary is special and it even has a cameo by a very recognisable feline friend 😸😸😸 Even if you are not from Erris, this documentary tells its story in such a way that you will feel that you have already been welcomed into the pub, heard a song on the Irish pipes and had a nice chat with the locals!! Shocking scenes as 121 birds are rescued from horrific 'hoarding situation' in the Midlands

IMAGE: ISPCA Parrot Rescue Ireland  are based in Sligo and they have taken on the care of a number of exotic birds who were recently rescued from 'a hoarding situation' in the Midlands. In total, 121 birds of various species including parrots, budgies, quail, parakeets, finches, cockateils and domestic hens were found in what the ISPCA has described as 'deplorable conditions'. When a member of the public reported their concerns to the ISPCA, a multi-agency operation was organised including, the gardai, the HSE and the National Parks and Wildlife Service. ISPCA Inspector Lyndsey Delaney detailed the horrific conditions to  The Journal  where she described how there was a build up of faeces, fly infestation, rotton food and the bird cages had cobwebs on them making it clear how neglected these birds were. They found birds who were already deceased and others who had beak damage, broken wings and severe feather loss. The premises had an absolutely appalling smell resulti

Bangor Hibs Rise from the Ashes

Bangor Hibs soccor team were founded in February 1995. In their first year they took part in the Erris League and went on to win the Erris Shield. The following year they entered the Mayo League. They played in the second division for a few seasons, then they were promoted and made it to the Super League in 2008 but unfortunately only stayed there for one season. The team won their first trophy in 2006 when they defeated Partry in the Tonra Cup. Their most successful season was in 2011 when they won the Tuohy Cup, the Premier B League Cup and also received the Mayo Club of the Year Award. The team would also travel to England for the Brendan Conway Memorial Cup for a number of years in the early naughties.  The club had success with their underage teams. In 2000, the U12's team won the U12 Mayo Cup and within two weeks, the U16's also won the U16 Mayo Cup. The underage teams have remained but the senior team has been out of action since 2019. Covid came, leagues were cancelled
